Patricia Valdez is a scientist and author of the award-winning picture book biographies, Joan Procter, Dragon Doctor and How to Hear the Universe. She earned her Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley. Originally from Texas, Patricia now lives in the Washington, D.C. area with her husband, children, cats, and turtle, where she continues to write stories for curious kids.
